The Chair, Michael Rikley-Lancaster, called the meeting to order at 3:30 pm and welcomed the new attendees to the meeting.

The delegation from Cara Gibbons, owner (?) of 161 Union Street, Almonte, gave a summary of her reason for requesting to speak to the committee and requested information on the following items:

  • Fence allowed around the home and if so is it a specific type of fence allowed?
    • Yes only 2 metres high, no electric, must be on your property, covered under the Property Standard Bylaw
    • Heritage can review type of fence but shouldnt be a problem
  • Can the driveway be paved?
    • Yes from a heritage standpoint and likely from planning department
  • Repair a balcony deemed unsafe?
    • Through committee for recommendations and building permits required
  • Does heritage refer to the exterior and interior?
    •  
  • Can another addition be added?
    • Through committee for recommendations and building permits required
  • Yearly Heritage tax rebate and Heritage grant are available to heritage homes. Staff to send by-law.

Councillor Maydan - The municipality has received over $1 million from the Provincial Government for the Mississippi Mills Business Park, Public Works has confirmed tenders have gone out for downtown rejuvenation project.

Committee members and staff introduced themselves.

Michael Rickley Lancaster provided a summary of the information for Lansdowne Park.

ACTION: Sarah More to look into the history of the naming of Lansdowne Park
