Development & Engineering

The Committee of the Whole received a presentation from the Development and Engineering department that outlined the future of the building and planning departments. The Committee discussed the options presented by the department and approved the creation of job descriptions for a Policy Planner and Engineer positions within the municipality but asked for a more in depth report back in August to discuss the positions during the 2024 budget process. The Committee also approved staff to begin the recruitment process for a Senior Plans Examiner to be funded through the 2023 building department budget.

    THAT Committee of the Whole recommend that Council direct staff to begin the recruitment process for Senior Plans Examiner (with a potential of adding Deputy Chief Building Official duties in the future) to be funded within the 2023 Building Branch budget, and if necessary, supplemented from building reserves.

The Committee discussed the new noise bylaw. Director of Protective Services Williams was available to answer questions.

    THAT Committee of the Whole recommend Council Direct Staff to award the contract for the renewal of Princess Street to Thomas Cavanagh Construction in the Amount of $1,464,464.64 plus HST.

Deputy Mayor Minnille gave an overview of the topics discussed at Lanark County Council.

Have not met. There is a Zone 2 meeting in Brockville on June 16th. 

Councillor Lowe provided some of the programs available at the Pakenham Library

The Committee discussed the next strategic plan meeting. CAO Kelly advised Council to review the vision statement, and an availability notice will be circulated for a meeting prior to June 30th.  

Mayor Lowry thanked Councillor Holmes for taking on the role of COW Chair for the next 6 months.
