The Secondary Dwelling Unit would be 120% the GFA of the of the primary dwelling unit.

    AND THAT, Committee of the Whole recommend Council approve the proposed timelines for construction and direct staff to proceed with finalization of the tender based on the proposed dates. 

    AND THAT, Pre-Budgetary Approval for this project be provided in the full amount no later than September of 2021 in order to facilitate tendering of the works in October of 2021.

    THAT, Committee of the Whole recommend Council appoint the following representatives Councillor Dalgity and Councillor Guerard to attend meetings with Beckwith and Carleton Place representatives for the purposes of negotiating an acceptable payment for the 2021 recreation and pool cost sharing services of the Joint Recreation Cost Sharing Agreement.

    AND THAT, Committee of the Whole recommend to Council to direct staff to inform Carleton Place of the representatives.

    AND THAT, Committee of the Whole recommend that Council discuss in a closed session at its September 7th, 2021 meeting the terms and parameters upon which the representatives can negotiate.

Mayor's Report
 

Mayor Lowry presented the AMO Policy Update – Municipal Recognition of September 30th as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 

For the month of September, it is encouraged to recognize September 30th as National Orange Shirt Day and the flying of the Every Child Matters flag for the month of September at municipal offices.

County Councillor's Report
 

Deputy Mayor Minnille provided highlighted the following items from Lanark County Council:

  • Speed reduction on County Rd 43 between Glendale to Menzie St. in Smiths Falls.
  • Speed reduction on County Rd 19. 
  • Changing the intersection at Cavanagh Rd and County Rd. 17 to a 4 way stop with a flashing light in the middle of the intersection.

Mayor Lowry gave an update from the AMO delegations as follows:

  • Ministry Transportation regarding safety concerns at the intersection of Ramsay Conc 5 and Highway 7. The delegation was well received and  MTO has confirmed they will be sending a team to review the situation. 
  • Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing regarding vexatious complainants. This was also well received and the Ministry has followed up requesting additional information. 
  • Wardens Caucus had a multi-minister delegation where 4 key areas were discussed; Long Term Care, Health Teams, Housing, and Broadband and Cellular Services.

OPA 22 is scheduled for discussion at the Lanark County Economic Development Committee agenda at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 25th.

Councillor Maydan gave an update on the library membership status; 173 new members, 37 of which are from Carleton Place and Beckwith. They are currently in the process of reviewing all policies as well as the budget.
